Rehabilitation of 110 km overpass on Senaki-Poti highway is completed

"State Construction Company"Ltd completed rehabilitation of 110 meter overpass on Senaki-Poti-Sarpi interstate highway.

First Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, Giorgi Amashukeli together with the Head of Roads Department of Georgia Vazha Panchulidze,  Deputy Directors of "State Construction Company" Ltd Irakli Kuprava and Ucha Mamuchashvili observed completed works today.

Rehabilitation of the overpass in question represents part of Sarpi coastline reinforcement and rock-slide prevention project which is being implemented by "State Construction Company" Ltd on request of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia.

Within the frameworks of the project damaged overpass was demolished and replaced by a new construction; building foundation was laid; asphalt-concrete layer was applied; a descending staircase leading to the beach was arranged.

The rehabilitation project was financed from state budget and cost 2 mln 273 thousand GEL. Out of 70 workers employed, most were local residents.

Senaki-Poti-Sarpi interstate highway has a traffic flow of 15,000 cars per day and night on average. As a result of the completed works movement by vehicle on the overpass will become safe and comfortable for passengers.
