Adlia coastline reinforcement project was completed successfully

"State Construction Company" Ltd of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia has completed fortification of Adlia coastline. The project was implemented on request of LEPL Division of Environmental and Natural Resources Protection of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara.

The First Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, Giorgi Amashukeli together with the Head of Roads Department of Georgia, Vazha Panchulidze, "State Construction Company" Ltd Director Ioseb Ozashvili and his Deputy Directors-Irakli Kuprava and Ucha Mamuchashvili observed the renovated coastline of Adlia.

Adlia section of Adjara coastline was severely afflicted due to seasonal storms in 2013-2014: the beach was washed out and coastal infrastructure was destroyed, including the walking trail and a concrete retaining wall. In addition, the freeway located just 30-50 meters away from the sea was endangered which has a daily traffic of 6000 per day and night.

As part of the project up to 1 km long coastline was fortified: A Riprap was built and its layers were designed in a way that will prevent storms from washing away the construction.

All the implemented works will resolve longstanding problems on this specific section of Adlia coastline, preserve beach and ensure safety of vehicle movement on the adjacent highway.

The project which has been financed from the budget of Autonomous Republic of Adjara cost 5,3 mln GEL. Up to 100 workers were employed on the construction.
